The Story of Lovers Rock Film Project Newsletter

(July 11, 2011)

Dear All

I want to keep all of you who have donated or contributed to THE STORY OF
LOVERS ROCK  updated on the progress of the film.

*Distribution*
We have signed a deal with Verve Pictures who will be working with me on
both the theatrical and DVD release.  A release date has been set for 29th
September, 2011.

Currently talking to cinemas to programme the film for this period.  Verve
were the distributors of Bullet Boy, Precious and currently Vidal
Sassoon-the movie.  This deal enables me to retain all rights and at the
same time tap into the resources of a professional outfit like Verve  who
will be handling the bookings and financial returns.

Trailer
We have produced an unofficail trailer to help to promote interest in the
film. This can be found on youtube/loversrockthefilm or visit our website.

*Website*
We have launched our new improved website
*http://www.loversrockthefilm.com*<http://www.loversrockthefilm.com/>

*Facebook*
Most of you will be aware that we have set up THE STORY OF LOVERS ROCK
facebook group.  Here hundreds of members have been exchanging classic
tracks from yesteryear.

*Fundraising*
We are still fundraising to reach our target of £7,000.  As I mentioned at
the screening we still need to cover rights and marketing costs prior to
release. So far since the screenings at the Southbank, Coronet and the
recent screening in Birmingham where I launch an appeal only £1,765 has been
raised. A small  sum  given all the people who where very enthusiastic at
the time. So those of you who have promised and have not given please do so.
We have had contributions from £250 to £5. It all helps. We have set up a
paypal/donate account on our website on the main page.  We know  that you
are not flowing with money but a promise is a promise ! All  those  who
know  other people who might be willing to donate don't hesitate.  This film
is our story our legacy  you have all seen it for yourselves.

  *Screenings*
On the 19th June we had a preview screening in Birmingham at the MAC venue.
Once again it was a sold out event and the film was very well received. Over
£500 was raised in donations on the  night.  Many thanks to Claudiette
Richards of CR Events and Entertainment for organising a  very successful
screening.

More preview screenings are planned for Bradford and Manchester. The
Bradford event is happening on the 16thJuly at the National Media Museum.
For those who want to attend or have friends in Yorkshire here is the link

The Manchester screening dates will be confirmed shortly. Check out our
Facebook for updates on this.

Finally
I want to  thank all of you for your support - those who have donated -
those who have turned up for the screenings. Continue to spread the word via
your networks.

Is there anyone out  there with PR or marketing skills?  If so I would like
to hear from you.

One Love
Menelik
